Preparing for a Hurricane

The best time to prepare for a hurricane is the first day of hurricane season, June 1st. However, once a storm is tracking, there are several things you can do to get prepared. First, you need to know your home's vulnerabilities in any storm situation, including storm surge, flooding, and wind. Knowing your home's vulnerabilities will allow you to make an informed decision about sheltering in place or evacuating to another area. It would help if you also had an emergency plan and a kit should you decide to stay in your home. The items below are an excellent place to start preparing you and your family for a hurricane.
